Ryan grew up in Red Valley, Arizona, helping his parents and grandparents herd cattle. His parents instilled hard work at a young age. During that time, his great grandmother told him traditional stories and how the Holy People provided guidance to the Diné. Those stories have guided Ryan through his career as a sculptor.
Ryan was introduced to sculpture in 1988 and emersed himself fully in 1989. Through trial and error, he has continued sculpture in metal and stone and has collaborated with numerous artists to create their vision in addition to his own work. Forever looking forward to the next idea.
